Who am I and why am I talking about advertising?
Hi there! Welcome to my blog! My name is Siena Blair, and I am a rising fourth-year student at San Diego State University. I am majoring in Marketing and receiving a specialization in Integrated Marketing Communications. I am originally from Marin County, CA. My love for California runs deep and truly shapes who I am. I enjoy going to the beach, practicing yoga or pilates, spending time with my friends, and hanging out with my new puppy, Frankie.
This blog will be a combination of two things that I am very passionate about. The first is voicing my opinion, and the other is executing advertising with excellence. Since I started talking, I have been a very opinionated person who has never been afraid to share those opinions. I know what I like and what I don’t like, and I usually have something to say about it. When it comes to advertising, this is a passion of mine that is fairly new. I’ve known I wanted to pursue some form of marketing since my senior year of high school, which is why I chose my major. However, marketing is a broad field that includes occupations like sales, something I knew I didn't want to do. I put on my thinking cap for a few years and explored some options. I started with an internship at a restaurant chain where I was in charge of social media. It was fun, but it felt more like a chore and less like a job, so I knew I had to keep searching. At the beginning of last year, I started following an advertising agency on Instagram and became infatuated with watching the work they created. I liked the creative side of things but also the business side of things and realized that this might be a good fit for me. Here I am, a year later, working at an awesome advertising company, Partners in Crime Co., where I am lucky enough to be involved in project management, strategy, creative, and production. I am learning about the advertising world and falling in love with lots of work as I do it. When you delve into the analysis and thought process behind an advertisement or ad campaign, it becomes a piece of art. I hope that after looking at my blog and reading the thoughts I share, you will feel the same way. Until the next post! Have a great day!
Thank you for sharing Siena, especially so candidly about yourself and your interests. I like that you included some information about your major. This was excellent context and helpful for someone like me who has no clue about marking and advertising. I admire your courage and determination to find something you are passionate. I look forward to your future blogs.
ReplyDeleteHey Siena!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you sharing so much about yourself and why you chose to focus your blog on ad campaigns. I am also a marketing major and find the world of ad campaigns to be an extremely interesting topic to dive deeper into and learn about. There are so many areas of marketing to emphasize on so it is going to be fun to focus on advertising. I am very excited to not only learn more about executing advertisements successfully but to also hear your personal opinion about these subjects. I am very excited to read your future blogs.
Hey Siena,
ReplyDeleteI love that you are super into marketing and are fascinated with the science of advertisements. I am as-well. The first class that I actually found relevant in my life was my marketing class. It was the only class that what I was learning I could take, apply it outside of class, and see and understand everything that was being talked about. Walking through the grocery store and seeing marketing tactics, commercials on tv, and so much more. This makes me super intrigued to see what you have to say in future blogs!
Hello Siena. Marketing is a very useful skill that many people should be able to use in life especially in a work environment. Every platform from your every day T.V. to the social media apps on our phone, we can see the skills of marketing teams from all around the world, and what they do. I am curious as to what aspects of marketing appeal to you, especially on the business side, and why exactly you chose it as a major. You made this sound fun and I look forward to more!
ReplyDeleteHey Sienna, it was awesome reading about you and your interests! I am a firm believer that advertising, if done correctly, can be a turning point for many products, events, and other uses, considering that we as a society tend to give attention to the things that attract us the most, and there are current trends that continue to influence people in a certain way. Providing information about yourself, interests, major, and the context of why you chose it, further exposes to the reader’s you knowledge in this field, and how the subsequent information is not simple clutter on a paper. It’s important to have the ability to voice opinions, regardless of how and who they might affect at certain points, because that creates an unbiased environment, and room for further improvement. Great Blog!
